Raspberry Pi Controller
« on: April 11, 2015, 09:17:04 09:17 »
Have been looking into using a Raspberry Pi to control my AP system Looking on the web have found a few projects one very interesting is here http://incredibleaquagarden.co.uk/aquaponics/about-the-aquaponics-control-system/   using a Arduino and Raspberry Pi. I know very little about the Pi and even less about the Arduino but am about to get a Pi and start putting together a auto system to control my IBC set up. Members thoughts on this project or have you started/finished controller.  ::)

I have yet to actually start an Aquaponics setup due to many other projects on the go...

But I have been reading up on the automation side for a while.
First found out about Arduino's etc through a Kirsten Dirksen Video https://youtu.be/X2wWTadsBDA but the software that was used on that has been relaunched in a way and doesn't really do anything as stuck in a pre beta version. (Guess the developer gave up / lost interest http://apduino.com/)

I think the best alternative I have found so far is this http://www.backyardaquaponics.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=22607
It's a good compromise between simplicity and functionality. It can even log to the internet. While it doesn't do advance stuff such as open and close windows in the green house etc you could always add it your self.
